To celebrate America’s 250th anniversary and honor the area’s military history, Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo, State Senator Michael Lee, service members, veterans were joined by members of the Spectrum team aboard the Fantail at Battleship North Carolina.

Hosted in partnership with HISTORY and Spectrum, the event brought local community and service members together for a round table discussion about military service, the importance of serve and making the transition to a civilian career, moderated by Spectrum News North Carolina anchor Tim Boyum. Afterwards, the group enjoyed a screening of HISTORY’s World War II documentary series The War at Sea.

More than 40 veterans, many of them being Spectrum employees, representing the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Army were on hand as guests of honor, invited to simply attend and enjoy an evening built around their service.

Jen Tracy, Spectrum’s Vice President of Talent Acquisition & Innovation, who oversees Spectrum’s Military Recruiting team, shared more about our commitment to supporting veterans in finding meaningful career opportunities on our team

“Spectrum’s support for veterans and military families is not just a statement. It’s reflected in the way we hire, the way we invest in development and the way we build community,” Jen shared.

Veterans make up more than 8,000 members of our workforce, including many in leadership roles. Through partnerships with organizations like Hiring Our Heroes and RecruitMilitary, we connect thousands of transitioning service members each year with career opportunities in broadband and technology.

This military-friendly support goes beyond hiring - programs like our Broadband Apprenticeship Program allow veterans to collect GI Bill benefits while they train to earn industry broadband certification, and our Spectrum Veterans Business Resource Group helps foster community and connection for military affiliated employees across the company.

The Wilmington event also included a donation to Honor Flight of the Cape Fear Area in recognition of local WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans, underscoring Spectrum’s broader commitment to the military community.

For veterans and military spouses looking for their next opportunity, Spectrum’s Military Recruiting team is focused on helping them find not just a job, but a place to grow, lead and build a lasting career. Learn more about Military Careers at Spectrum | Transition to Success
